Founder's Journey
Founder and owner, Stacey Payne, has 15+ years of experience in the accounting and tax field. She is no stranger to balancing family life with career. Stacey started her college career as a newlywed with a four month old baby. During the last year of her undergrad program, she took a position as an intern at a local accounting firm. Stacey graduated cum laude with her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She continued working, nearly full-time hours during tax season, while attending graduate school. After graduating with her Master's Degree in Accountancy, Stacey continued working at the local firm while gaining the work experience necessary for licensure and studying for the CPA exam. She passed the final portion of the CPA exam when her youngest son was 3 months old.

Stacey was promoted to partner in her early thirties. At that time, she felt like she had reached the pinnacle of success. All those years of hard work, long hours, and persistence had paid off! However, the reality of the job expectations - working even more hours - didn't line up with what she had pictured.
Balanced Accounting Begins
After taking a hard look at her career as partner and considering the kind of life she desired, Stacey submitted her resignation.
She recognized the need for more balance in her life and the desire to spend more time with her family and the need for more flexibility in her schedule.

The idea of Balanced Accounting was born!
The idea that you can lead a fulfilling career while enjoying your life and having quality family time.

Stacey achieved the balance she knew she needed and is now on a mission to help other small business owners find the same balance and fulfillment with their careers and personal life.

BALANCE
The idea of work-life balance seems unachievable for many. People often interpret work-life balance to mean you have to split your time equally between work-life and personal-life in order to feel balanced.

That's not what Stacey had in mind when she started Balanced Accounting.
bal•ance (n): harmonious arrangement or relation of parts or elements within a whole

Bringing Balance to Life:
A Note from the Founder
I thought success in my career would lead to a feeling of satisfaction in my personal life as well. But in reality, my career was taking up too much time and energy and there was no time or space left for me to enjoy life.
It wasn't the kind of life I thought I would have at this point. It wasn't until I redefined what work-life balance meant to me that I discovered what I had been searching for all along - peace. For me, this meant knowing that I was doing what I loved to do in my career and also being able to do things I love with my family.

Maintaining this balance is an ongoing process and it's okay to not get it right all the time. Achieving balance requires effort and constant adjustment. If you've done life for any amount of time, you know there are many different seasons. Some seasons are busy at work (hello tax season!), while some are busy at home (life with littles). Give yourself some grace as you navigate each season. It may take a little more effort, planning, and boundaries, but it is possible to feel balanced even during challenging times. Trust me, the effort is worth it!
When you feel balanced in life, that's when you truly start living!
